If your child plans to ride a bus for the start of the 2024-2025 school year, please complete this form. A new request must be submitted for the 2024-2025 School Year.
ALL information entered MUST BE verified in POWERSCHOOL before any request is processed.
Asheville City Schools will provide transportation to/from your home address for students in the assigned district.
Out-of-district students are not eligible for transportation services. We do not provide convenience stops, stops for students' work, or stops to parents/guardians' places of work.
Students can only ride a bus to addresses/contacts listed in their PowerSchool Accounts. Any stops not to and from the student’s home to approved ACS daycares or other afterschool programs are subject to available space/capacity on that bus.
Any stops, including afterschool care, where students are not domiciled, will not be assigned during the first ten days of school OR until ALL in-district students have been placed and bus capacity audits are completed. Afterschool care stops are not guaranteed service unless there are ten or more students.
Each request for after school will be determined on a case by case basis.
There are no bus passes to ride with other students on buses that a student is not currently assigned to ride.
Every new request completely overwrites a previous request. Please make sure both AM and PM requests are complete.
If your address has changed, you will need to contact your student's school to update that address before requesting a bus.
Bus assignments will not be made until that has been processed. Please do not make a request and use it as a placeholder.
If you are a dual placement request, as your child is 50/50 between parents or caregivers, and your child is in sports or other school-related activities, this does not apply.
If a student needs a temporary bus pass, say for a particular day, rain out, etc., that can be written by school administration on a case-by-case basis and on space available on a bus.
If your student requires special transportation on an EC bus, or other specialized STOP HERE. DO NOT complete this form. EC students needing transportation as a related service must contact your student's teacher or caseworker for more information on transportation services.
Once your bus assignment has been processed, an email will be sent to confirm your bus information. The information to sign up for the NEW Student BusPlanner Alerts via the CHIPMUNK school bus planner app will be included. ACS Transportation Services know parents expect real-time busing information.
Chipmunk will help us provide it. The Chipmunk app through BusPlanner offers parents the ability to see their child’s GPS bus location – in real-time – along with an ETA telling them when the bus will arrive.
Features include:
- Real-time travel data for each GPS-equipped bus
- An ETA feature for projected arrival times
- Support for GPS market leaders
- Intuitive interface to minimize phone calls
- Alerts for key notifications to parents
We appreciate your support of the Asheville City Schools Transportation as we continue to improve our services to provide a safe, efficient and dependable route service and updates.
Bus requests take 3-5 days to process.
